A community for women who believe it's never too late to learn something new, make a new friend, or begin a new adventure.
Join Us in St. Charles Learn MoreThe Lantern Society brings together women from every walk of life — 20s to 80s — to explore local gems, learn practical skills, encourage one another, and build genuine friendships. Our gatherings might include hikes, ghost tours, pumpkin patches, wineries, pickleball, self-defense, coffee meetups, volunteer projects, creative workshops, and anything else that sparks curiosity.
Lighting the Way TogetherEvery woman has something to teach and something to learn. No experience required — just show up.
Be willing to try something new, even if you're a beginner. The best adventures start with "I've never done this before."
We celebrate effort more than perfection. Cheer loud, show up, and leave people better than you found them.
Meaningful friendships grow one shared experience at a time. We make space for real connection.
Share your gifts, support others, and carry the spirit of this community forward wherever you go.
One of the things that makes The Lantern Society unique is our patch tradition. Each patch celebrates a shared experience — not mastery. We don't earn patches because we're experts; we earn them because we showed up, tried something new, and created a memory together.
Each outing or activity we do together comes with its own patch — a small, tangible reminder of the day you said yes to something new.
Collect your patches on a backpack, tote bag, denim jacket — wherever you like. Over time they'll become a visual story of the adventures you've shared and the women you've shared them with.
Our patch collection grows as we do. Each time we tackle something new together, a new patch is born. Check back after each event to see what's been added.
There's no attendance requirement, no guilt for missing something, and no pressure to do it all. Join what calls to you. Skip the rest. You belong either way.
Kids, partners, and family members are welcome at these outings — pumpkin patches, nature walks, volunteer days, and community events designed so no one has to leave anyone behind.
Sometimes you need to exhale. Winery tours, ghost walks, self-defense classes, and evenings around the fire — space to connect as women, without the mom or caregiver hat on.
Whether you join us for one event or one hundred, we hope you'll discover new places, learn new skills, share your own gifts, and leave with friendships that last long after the patches are sewn on.
